Overtime blues

28Nov07

A question posed during a work meeting many moons ago resulted in an ill-advised move to sign up for 17 hours of overtime a week between now and Christmas. This shift involves a lot of quiet moments and has left too much time on my hands, which has mostly been spent tallying amount made per hour and plotting how to use this extra money.

Ideas thus far:

  • 13″ black MacBook (Sorry Ludie - it runs Unix)
  • broke-ass-going-back-to-college-and-buying-overpriced-textbooks fund
  • catch up on comics
  • travel to East Coast (Hi Ro!)
  • pay off debt (YAWN)
  • buy new photo gear: SB-800, wide angle lens, new scanner, etc.

What would you guys do?

    uggghh tis not my blog… therefore (like churches in Highlander) i cannot fight about mac’s in this holy place. So therefore i say either go east young woman, or totally buy some comics!

    Ohhh man, Evan has been drooling over the black Macbook for weeks now, and I keep trying to tell him not to spend that much money before Xmas.. or to WAIT for Xmas cuz you never know.. but he is kind of obsessed. haha.

    Come on now. Shouldn’t we be using this money for something more practical? There are bills that need to be paid you know. And don’t forget the starving children outside your apartment, freezing in the cold wishing that they could, just for a moment, feel the warmth of a nice bed that they can’t afford. I think that the answer is clear.

    COMICS!

    You could totally give them to those kids when you are done and they could totally read them, then use them as a make-shift blanket later.

    Yes, comics. Totally.

    and if not, you should buy something from here

    (haha, shameless self promotion)

    M@ - You are BRILLIANT!

    I’m no closer to figuring out what to do, but seeing as I am getting my first overtime shift paycheck this Friday, I should come up with a gameplan. Otherwise I will find myself in Manhattan yelling for Ro, totally lost and alone.

    um, duh. come back to ABQ and meet Tigerlily!

    Never lost and alone dahling. Come on over! And look, the stagehands aren’t striking anymore, so we could totally do a musical or play. Other Serene-like things:

    * Forbidden Planet - http://www.fpnyc.com/
    * The Strand - http://www.artbook.com/strandbookstore.html
    * ICP - http://www.icp.org/

    as well as your plethora of touristy venues such as Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Coney Island, Statue of Liberty, and the Coffee Shop where “Seinfled” took place and yadda yadda yadda.

    Need I say more? ;)
